The Status and Socioeconomic Rights Programme focuses on securing access to status rights (to birth registration, nationality, and residence) and facilitating access to socioeconomic rights (to health care, social protection, adequate housing, education, and employment). Within this Programme, we provide free legal aid, information and counselling to socially vulnerable population (Roma, Askalia, Egyptians (RAE) and IDPs) by initiating and conducting various procedures related to birth registration, by helping them to acquire citizenship and register their permanent and temporary residence, and by helping them to access their socioeconomic rights. Through our field visits, we reach the most marginalized individiuals who live in informal settlements and remote areas throughout Serbia. We also monitor the implementation of relevant legislation, conduct research, advocate for legislative changes and for the harmonization of practice by the competent bodies, raise awareness of the target groups and perform capacity building activities directed at public authorities and CSOs.
