Today we are marking the World Refugee Day. Refugees are forced to leave their home countries due to war, terror, or natural disasters and start an uncertain, risky and difficult journey during which they suffer human rights violations, trauma, despair, violence, humiliation and loss. As we have witnessed in the past few months, the global COVID-19 pandemic is creating new threats and new human rights violations.
We all have a role to play in fighting for a much better world, for defending human rights, combating discrimination, racism, xenophobia and homophobia and making sure that the world’s most vulnerable are neither left behind nor forgotten.
